Living in the Eaux-Vives: the urban neighbourhood surrounded by water and green spaces

Living in Les Eaux-Vives means living in the heart of the city and still being able to enjoy the refreshing quietness of the lake shore. As you walk through the streets, you can catch a glimpse of the famous Jet d’eau from place to place.

Just behind Quai Gustave Ador and its 19th century style buildings, you'll discover a friendly and vibrant area. You’ll enjoy countless stores and restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world. The streets remind us of a village atmosphere, always friendly and relaxed.

And greenery is never far away: on the Eastern part of the district lie two of Geneva's largest parks: the Parc des Eaux-Vives and the Parc La Grange. Both are great for families, lovers and sports enthusiasts in all seasons and weathers.

Also known as the “House of Glass”, this building was designed by the famous Swiss architect Le Corbusier. The name comes from its two full-surface glazed facades. That was very unusual at the time, in the 1930s. All 50 apartments, as well as the interior spaces, are very bright thanks to skylights and large openings on the sides of the building. The Immeuble Clarté is the first step of the Le Corbusier-advocated modern architecture movement.

This area by the lake is so beautiful that a rich Roman already built a villa here in the 1st century ! Today, it is the largest park in the city. Guarded by two lions, the entrance opens onto a garden leading up to a charming house. Passing it, you reach the higher part of the park where families meet for barbecues around the playground and the children’s pool. An open-air theatre hosts concerts in the summer and the park also has the most beautiful of rose gardens.
