Out of a desire to take coherent and measurable steps towards sustainability within the company, Pilet & Renaud has handed the sustainability agenda to a dedicated team made up of volunteers and employees.
In late 2020, Pilet & Renaud’s management mandated a sustainability team with the mission of putting action plans in place to further the company’s initiatives in sustainable development.
By bringing together this cross-cutting group, formed of around ten voluntary members, we are better able to grasp the context of each of the company’s services, with the aim of putting coherent and quantifiable sustainability measures in place. The following have been identified as priorities for 2021: mobility and waste management.
At the group’s first sessions, each member expressed their reasons for joining the sustainability team.
Most members cited concern for the environment as the factor driving their active involvement. Sarah, a trainee, realised how much pollution there is while travelling in Thailand, where she saw a huge mountain of waste piled up near an idyllic beach. She was shocked and decided to respond with action.
Similar environmental sensibilities are shared in family contexts, either passed from parent to child, or among the younger generations, who are most concerned. All the members share a desire to extend their sustainability efforts at work. Besides the steps being taken within the company itself, the team members believe that Pilet & Renaud can also have a beneficial impact beyond the company’s walls, in particular in the real estate sector.
Around ten colleagues working together on the team
Trainees, professionals, experienced colleagues and management staff have all joined the sustainability team.
This team provides us with a point of reference within the company for all things relating to sustainability. The team takes up feedback from all the company’s staff, which is an essential first step. This collaborative process enables us to implement functional solutions that are acceptable to all our teams. The group is able to communicate across the company to ensure that the planned steps are the best possible solutions. This means that all the goals are set in a collaborative manner.

Those indicators will focus on aspects that are priorities for Pilet & Renaud, Currently, they are: waste, the impact of digitalisation, buildings and mobility. These four environmental concerns will be taken into account. Employees’ well-being will also be part and parcel of all measures taken. This is an essential component of any measure that is to be sustainable.
